What is IDD?

IDD

IDD Waiver (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities)

An intellectual or developmental disability, also called IDD, includes many severe, chronic conditions that are due to mental and/or physical impairments. IDD can begin at any time. It usually lasts throughout a person's lifetime. People who have IDD have problems with major life activities such as:

  • Language
  • Mobility
  • Learning
  • Self-help
  • Independent living

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Medicaid Eligibility: Applicants must meet Medicaid income and resource limits through an interview and application process with the Division of Public Assistance (DPA).
  2. Level of Care Assessment: Conducted by the SDS Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Unit using the Inventory for Community and Agency Planning (ICAP) tool. The results are reviewed to confirm the intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IID) level of care determination.

What is APDD?

APDD

APDD Waiver (Adults with Physical and Developmental Disabilities)

Overview:The APDD Waiver is available to adults aged 21 and over in Alaska who are developmentally disabled and have nursing needs that would otherwise require care in a nursing facility or group home.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Medicaid Eligibility: Applicants must meet Medicaid income and resource limits through an interview and application process with the Division of Public Assistance (DPA).
  2. Level of Care Assessment: Conducted by the SDS Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Unit. The assessment results are reviewed to confirm the nursing facility level of care (NFLOC) determination.

What is ALI?

ALI

ALI Waiver (Adults Living Independently)

Overview:The ALI Waiver is designed for Alaska residents who are elderly (65+ years old) or physically disabled and between 21 and 64 years of age. This waiver program offers an alternative to institutional care, providing home, community-based, and group home services to eligible individuals. Persons who enroll as a disabled adult can continue to receive Waiver services under the aged category when turning 65.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Medicaid Eligibility: Applicants must meet Medicaid income and resource limits through an interview and application process with the Division of Public Assistance (DPA).
  2. Level of Care Assessment: A functional assessment conducted by SDS Intake and Assessment Unit assessors (nurses or trained professionals) via in-person or videoconferencing. The assessment results are reviewed by a nurse supervisor to confirm the nursing facility level of care (NFLOC) determination.

Every Sanpierre resident is considered a member of the family. Residents are supervised by our knowledgeable staff while they prepare meals in the kitchen, play games, and engage in other activities.

Residents also participate in community activities. Everyone is encouraged to live socially and physically active lives. Sanpierre offers events such as helping at the local animal shelter, ice-cream socials, Special Olympics bowling, and many more on a regular basis, depending on the season and the inhabitants' level of interest.

Every individual with an intellectual limitation deserves respect, decency, and the opportunity to live independently. Because each person has a distinct personality with different needs, talents, and interests, we place residents in our group homes with care and consideration.

Residents with varying capacities share the same residence. With this method, your loved one will interact, engage, teach, and learn from peers while being treated with decency and respect.
